Nexus 2007, Leading in Times of Disruptive Change. held on the 24th of March, 2007 at One Marina Boulevard, Singapore, was a major conference centered around the latest happenings in technolgy and business, meant to be bring together the best folks in town and inject some serious energy into the scene here.

We discussed the dynamic and overlapping areas of business and technology, including Web 2.0 , Citizen Journalism, Mobile Web Explosion, Open Source, Globalization, ‘Techno-preneurship’. More importantly though, as James put it, the most important conversations are the myraid side topics that were discussed in the alleys and tables in Nexus.

Why is Nexus Different?:

  • Audience: Congregation of 600 of the brightest, most entreprenerial minds in Singapore and in the region
  • Speakers: Gathering of global experts from O’Reilly, Amazon, Lenovo, Microsoft, Second Life, and many more!
  • Interaction: Un-conference, highly energetic interactions between speakers, audience and organizers
  • Digitally Connected: Connecting everyone regardless of location via Twitter and Live Chatting!
  • Geekout: Showcasing of high potential local startups to an Andreas, Nat, and an overflowing room made up of enthusiastic members of the community!

On Hindsight: What was Nexus About?

We realized more about the impact of Nexus on hindsight, that we did at the start. We learnt a lot through out the process, and got a lot of feedback, and the following 3 Cs are what we think Nexus was about! If you are thinking Classical, clichéd, corny marketing lingo?

Nah! …more like Communities, Conversations and Crowd-sourcing!

Communities – Brought together by their common passion in various areas, Nexus was a platform for people to come together, form communities, launch discussions, brainstorm ideas and build relationships. Extending on this point, Blogout is our effort to make the blogosphere community even stronger!

Conversations – The pioneering of the what we call a digital conference enabled us to enable conversations in a major conference via chat, mobile social network, and photos.

Crowd-sourcing – Simply put, Nexus was not our event. It is an event that resulted from all the great great ideas (pre-event) and help that we received from the community!

That’s all peeps, visit the NEXUS 2007 website for more pre and post-NEXUS resources, pictures, videos, podcasts, feedback Wiki and many more!
