Following which, bloggers came along to disrupt both of them, harnessing wisdom of the crowd to provide speedy reports and diverse range of opinions that is almost impossible to replicate in an editorial team.
You guys would have noticed how CNET is increasingly incorporating user contributed content into their site, ranging from increasing the prominence of user contributed tips and comments, to even paying bloggers a amount of money for contribution to the CNET blog. You would also be aware of SPH’s Stomp.com.sg, a form of “hyper-local” content, aggregating contribution from the local crowd. Bloggers, of course are the epitome of wisdom of the crowds, and their version of crowdsourcing is trading on the currency of mutual links and comments.
